DS 120: Black and white graphic drawing
Date
october 2022
In DS 120, I dived into the concept of reimagining a common object—the pencil sharpener—by leveraging its inherent forms and textures. The artwork focuses on abstracting various aspects of the pencil sharpener, particularly the sharpenings and holes, to create a visually compelling composition.
To achieve this effect, I employed different methods of texturing, such as hatching and pointillism. Hatching was used to create areas of shadow and depth, enhancing the illusion of three-dimensionality within the two-dimensional artwork. Pointillism, on the other hand, was utilized to add intricate details and textures, contributing to the overall complexity and richness of the piece.
